Outreach

March Monthly Mission Project - Each month our church family works together to collect items and funds for a specific mission project, chosen by the Mission Committee & Church Staff. This month, we are supporting the LaGrange Community Nurse's baby and new mom program, as well as Heifer International.
  • Community Nurse - In 2016 Community Nurse patients delivered 18 babies, including a set of twins. They currently have over 50 moms in their prenatal and obstetrical program. Items needed are diapers, onesies, wipes, sleepers, digital thermometers, small books & baby toys, $5/$10 Target and Walmart gift cards, and lightweight robes for the moms.
  • Heifier International - The Sunday School children will again collect coins for the Heifer Project in cardboard boxes this year. The congregation is encouraged to join them in saving coins which will be collected on Palm Sunday (April 9). The 5th & 6th grade "Action Sunday School Class" will determine what animals we purchase based on our collection.

The United Methodist Book of Discipline defines outreach as giving attention to the local and larger community ministries of compassion, justice and advocacy.  Every summer, our senior high youth travel to Appalachia to work in teams with the Appalachia Service Project. In recent years, we've also sent multi-generational teams to New Orleans, Haiti, the Bahamas, Henderson Settlement, ASP Flood Relief, and Kenya.
